Relational Trauma Therapy in NY & NJ

You might find yourself asking:

“Why do I keep ending up in the same kinds of relationships?”
“Why do I react so strongly and spiral?”

Even when you understand things logically, your emotional responses can feel hard to control.

What is Relational Trauma?

Relational trauma develops when your emotional needs weren’t consistently met in early relationships. This can include childhood emotional neglect, inconsistent caregiving, or painful relationship experiences that shaped how you connect with others.

As an adult, this often shows up as overthinking interactions due to fear that you said or did something wrong and now they will leave you, like everyone else. You may believe that if someone knows you deeply, they will confirm one of your biggest fears: “I am unlovable.” You may find yourself in the same relationship patterns and feel that people around you always “drift away”.
